Domain Backorders

Backorder status

How RankingAI tracks a backorder, what each status means, and how to check on yours.

Checking your backorder

When you place a backorder you receive a request ID in the form BO-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS-XXXXXXXX. RankingAI contacts you by email at each important step, so you do not need an account to follow progress.

For privacy and security, backorder details are not shown through a public lookup on this website. To check on a backorder, email hello@rankingai.com from the address you used on the request and quote your request ID. We will confirm the current status and any action needed from you.

What the statuses mean

RankingAI moves a backorder through a simple set of states:

StatusMeaning
accepted_pending_reviewYour request and acceptance evidence are recorded. RankingAI is reviewing availability, eligibility, and completeness.
awaiting_payment_or_preauthorizationThe request is eligible and we are arranging payment or a pre-authorized maximum bid before the drop.
ready_for_dropEverything is confirmed. The backorder is queued for the next available drop window.
drop_attempt_scheduled / drop_attempt_runningA registration attempt is scheduled or in progress at the registry.
catch_succeeded_pending_registryThe registry accepted the create. The domain object exists for you while the registry finishes processing.
caught_pending_data_checkRegistered, but the registry requires a mandatory registrant data / ID check. Action may be needed from you by a deadline.
activeThe domain is registered to you and active.
catch_failedThe domain was not caught this time (for example it was taken by another party or not released).
cancelledThe backorder was cancelled by you or by RankingAI.
suspended_or_at_risk / deleted_after_failed_data_checkThe domain is at risk or was removed because a required registry check was not completed in time.

.dk data check

For .dk, a successful registration can move to caught_pending_data_check. Punktum.dk may require you, as the registrant, to complete a mandatory data / ID check by a stated deadline. RankingAI will email you the steps. If the check is not completed in time, the domain can be suspended or deleted and may become available to others again.

Important reminders

  • A backorder is an attempt, not a guarantee of a catch.
  • For .dk, the domain is registered directly to you as the registrant; RankingAI does not hold it as a nominee.
  • If several customers backorder the same domain, the winner is chosen before the drop (for example by pre-auction, highest pre-authorized max bid, or first eligible request).
  • Keep your registrant contact details accurate so registry checks and renewals are not missed.
